On New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2020, the Hard Light Center of Awakening will commemorate the end of a tumultuous year with an all-day recitation of the Cho Sadhana. Cho means “to cut.”
In the act of pure, enlightened Bodhicitta, pure generosity, we cut off our connection to ego; then we take all those components, those constituents of ego-centric identity, and we give them away. We offer them. Who do we offer them to? To the other dream entities of the wheel of cyclic existence.
The Cho’s mechanics is the very rapid dissolution of the objects of desire and ignorance through the path of generosity. The Cho arises out of the condition of pure emptiness, pure Mahamudra. The Mahamudra is a very profound concept wherein the Ocean of Consciousness, which is beyond all qualities, and the ocean of unconsciousness – the manifestation of the appearance of the world, arise simultaneously.
The New Year Retreat 2021 marks the end of one cycle and the beginning of a new one for both external and internal cycles of time. To celebrate this dramatic transition, we will align with Master Mark Griffin’s all-day recitation of the Cho Sadhana.
