On the Nature of the Self: A Profound Exploration of Totality
Join Mark Griffin in this one-day Shaktipat Intensive, delivered on February 9th, 2013, where he delves deeply into the elusive and profound nature of the Self.
Through this illuminating talk, Mark explains why the Self transcends all concepts, qualities, senses, and even the mind itself. He introduces the idea of the totality of being—a state where all qualities arise simultaneously while remaining void of any singular characteristic. This advanced teaching challenges conventional approaches to understanding the Self and invites practitioners into the ultimate realization of spiritual truth. Mark explains:
“Any approach to the nature of the Self is really an impossible idea. To even begin to do so, you have to embrace this concept of the totality of being, which is actually a kind of reverse intuition. The nature of the Self is beyond all concept, beyond all quality, beyond the senses and beyond the mind. It can’t be conceived of. There’s no one handle of attention; which is what I mean when I say the words “totality of being”. Any reflex of the senses, any reflex of the mind, application of will, is inconsequential and you’ll miss the target. The idea of the totality of being is to say that it’s the accumulation of Self, all qualities arising simultaneously. At the same time it is void of any quality.”
Perfect for advanced seekers, this talk offers a transformative perspective that will deepen your meditation practice and understanding of the Self’s boundless, ineffable nature.
