This is the transcripts of the two-day Kunda in August of 2013 on the
The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali – Samadhi Pada. Patanjali lived in the
creative time between 200 BC and 200 AD. He was a Perfect Master, and
he was a Naga, a shapeshifter. One of the central cities of the Nagas is a
city that lies underneath Varanasi, a subterranean city; and the doorway
between the underground city and the surface world is in Varanasi at the
Well of Sheshna. In the Well of Sheshna, Patanjali sat as he wrote
the Yoga Sutras and offered them to the world of humans.
We are studying the Eight Limbs of Yoga, and we are going to focus the
teaching on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. The Eight Limbs of Yoga are
prescribed by the restraints and observances in the modifications of
behavior, the study of asana – the mastery of the body, of breath, the
mastery of withdrawal and control of the senses, the study of the mind
and the capacity for concentration and meditation, and, most importantly, the stopping of the mind at will, which gives rise to the revelation of true consciousness and Samadhi. The Yoga Sutras is a textbook on the study of the modifications of the mind – how to do it.
